Nissan Primera P11-144

Its finished you have already donated the car. 

I was able to fix the prob. Took about a day to do - I
decided to remove & replace all of the valves - using the
ones from the 'donor' car. Compression was good on
testing and I'd spent some time bedding them in.

All-in-all the 'fix' cost me about £15, ignoring my own
labour costs - and after I'd sold the odds and ends from
the 'donor' car on ebay.

I have to say though - this is not a job for the faint
hearted - and you'll need a lot of practical experience
to do it but... any good Auto-DIYer should be able to
complete the job within a day.

Engine died by itself almost immediately... I was
reversing the car out of a parking bay at the time.

In the end I purchased an identical model Nissan - only
problem with it was the gear box (wouldn't move out of
First gear) - as a 'donor' car. I also purchased a new
gasket set, timing chain kit and head bolts.

When I got the head off, four of the valves had visible
damage - piston heads were fine.

On the minus side:
Donor car cost me £400, timing chain kit £125 and the
Gasket set £65, head bolts £26

On the Plus side:
Four brand new alloys, Four New Tyres + Spare Tyre, Brand
New exhaust and Catalytic Converter, New Air Filter, New
Pollen Filter, Spare Multi-disk CD Player, New Rear
Bumper Replacement, New Bonnet Replacement, Spare Wing
Mirrors, Spare Headlamps, Spare Light Alignment Sensors,
Spare Toolkit, Full Tank of Petrol worth about £65, Spare
wires, fuses, cables, interior lights, door handles, boot
lock, aerial and cigarette light!
+ £185 when I sold the donor as scrap.

Think I might come out even in the long term

Japanese cars are usually very reliable & hardly ever have engine faults, so i'm sorry to hear about your bad news. I would take it to your local garage & diagnose what damage has been caused & find some scrapyards near to you as depending on the damage you might be better off getting a new engine or I normally use these guys for my

Nissan Car Parts, try them out when you get a minute!!

Hi, I've got a 2l Nissan Primera P11-144 (w-Reg) and last
week the timing chain snapped.
The cars only done 56k!


Can anyone tell me what kind of damage has probably been
done?
Will I need to change the head / Valves ?
The car was basically doing about 0.5 mph in reverse when
it happened!
