Hi Guys,
I am looking to switch from Toyota Avensis 1998 to the new shape Nissan Primera 2002 to 2004, petrol, 1.8 or 2.0L. Please can someone tell me if these are any good and if there is anything i should be worried about? Thanks Guys, Casey. |

Hi, welcome to CN
I owned the 1.8s model on a 52 plate, used it as a cab for 2 years. Engine was good enough and never had any problems with it. Gearbox did give me some hassle though, the bearings collapsed and according to nissan there was a "batch of dodgy bearings" that went out into some Primeras and some almeras. Interior wise, the cloth stood up to the heavy wear and tear that cabs get, though the drivers seat did wear badly on the part that gets rubbed as you get in and out(as you sit it the seat, right hand side of the lumber). I also had a problem with the heater blower, would only work at one speed, i never got to the bottom of it before i got rid of the car( i normally change every 2 years). On the whole, i loved the car, it was roomy, performed well (ate the avensis for breakfast when i raced one), handled well, was reasonable on fuel and it also protected me from injury when i had a 50mph crash in it. Would i buy another? YES |
