Firstly hello to everyone.
I wonder if anyone can help me before I go mad!
Over the last few weeks someone bunped my Micra. Only a small dent but then weird things started happening.
The battery keeps going flat. It overheated. Cut out on the way to the shops and now will not start at all. The brake lights also come on if you press pedle without key in, don't think it did it before!
Is it more than one problem?
I think the NATS may have been turned on some how for it not to start.
The place that did the dent said it was the fuel pump but this was new about 2 months ago and doesn't the NATS turn it off.
Any help greatfully accepted.
As I say I'm slowly going Mad with it.
It's done 110,000 because of being disabled and need it to get round. It's the best car I've ever had.

Hi Frank and welcome to CN.
It might help if you could tell us where the damage was.

I think the brake lights on all Nissans are live without the key in, i've fitted a few alarms on them and have always found the wiring an easy pick up for a permanent live feed.

As for the fuel pump, if you get in and sitch the ignition on (make sure it's quiet in there) you should be able to hear the pump prime (a quiet buzzing noise, lasts a second or two). It is part of the nats system.

Battery going flat could be a number of things, something shorting out through to the battery itself past it, most "fast fit" places will do a free battery check.

Thanks for reply.
It was only minor damage on the door.
I'll listen to car over the weekend and see what happens.
The battery is new. Replaced it to see if it was that for both faults.
