98 and 2002 k11 speed

Had a 98 1.0 k11 micra and currently
have a 02 k11 micra 1.0

the thing is the older car had a higher
top speed. It would cruise all day at 80
and would get up to 100 eventually.

The 02 i have now is much slower and
struggles between 70 and 80 and if im
doing 80 and i start going up hill it Will
struggle to maintain speeds of above 65
to 70?

Is this normal with newer k11 micra.s?
Are they less powerfully?

The 1.0 L (998cc) CG10DE was built from the introduction of the Nissan Micra K11 in January 1992 until it was replaced by the K12 series in 2002. The engine originally produced 55 PS or 60 PS (41 kW / 44 kW) @6000 rpm and 79 nm @4000 rpm. In 2000, Nissan removed the distributor and replaced it with coil packs.

Maybe it has to do with the maintenanse..

Also there is (about) a 5% (acceptable) difference between

two (same) engines horsepower at this displacement.

Or check: catalyst, cables, spark plugs, filters, brakes, injectors, engines compression.

been used to potter around in all its life?
Whats the mileage of the old and new car?

iirc thay changed the gearboxes ratio in the face lift K11 1.0 is more geared to town work if your doing motorway work you ideally need at least a 1.1 - 1.3

FYI most police forces are dropping the speed thay prosecute at to around 92-95 MPH leading to a instant ban of 6-18 months

thay may do if its got a sr20det in it good for 400bhp if not more lol
