Micra air con

   Hiya
Just bought s/h 58 reg Micra Acenta (previously had Micra SE) both automatics.  Anyway, just wondering why the air con switches itself on in this newer model, does it do it automatically when IT thinks it should or when I have the lever on windscreen or is it misbehaving?  I have it on the off setting but it still came on a couple of times.  Not used to this as you can tell as the old Micra I was able to leave on or off when I wanted.
Hope someone will be able to advise please, many thanks for your help.
