Help! I need a carburettor or carb repair kit for my Nissan Sunny 1990 1.4. I've tried scrap yards and online search engines to no avail. It's a great little car and I want to keep it on the road.
Can anyone help? Someone suggested that it may be possible to use a Micra carburettor, if I can't find a Sunny one? But I don't know which one would be suitable. The broken bit is a rubber part on a little shaft. (Fuel accelerator?) I'd be grateful for any information. Thank you. Liz |

Hello,
I have a few contacts I could try but I would need to know if your carb is Hitachi or a Nikki it would also help if you had the number off the carb and the Engine number as they did make your car with a 1.4 single point and multipoint injection engine. |

Hello!
Thank you very much. The car is off road at a friend's house, and he also has the log book. I'll speak to him and get the details you need, then I'll get back you. We've just had a quote from an online scrapyard/ parts place......£120+24 vat.....free postage though!!! It's outrageous!!! I'll be in touch. Liz |

That's a bit much for a 2nd hand carb...yikes...
I'll see what I can do for you once I have the info. If you could private message me with the full Reg number that would also be a huge help. Edited by Ratchet - 17 November 2013 at 00:54 |

Ok...as you can guess with the age of the car this has been quite fun to find bits.
I spoke to a Carburettor specialist and he can't get the kit you need as it was a Nissan only part. I spoke to a friend at Renault/Nissan and he has found the 2 kits you need to rebuild the carb, they are not available in UK so it would be an order from Nissan & none returnable. He couldn't tell me what was included in the kits. The 2 Nissan part numbers you need are Gasket kit 1645587A01 (cost from my contact at Renault £24) Valve/Needle/seal Kit 1610187A00 (cost from my contact at Renault £15.05) The chassis number you gave me was missing a digit so I had to use the Reg number. My contact at Renault/Nissan is Simon 0121 418 0312 Hope this is of help to you and these include the parts you need to have the sunny back on the road. |

My Hero! I'll let you know how I get on! Did find a carburettor specialist in Nottingham today, too.......so it's good to have a few options now, instead of thinking my old dear was for the scrap yard!

your welcome
Funny you mention Nottingham...my carb specialist is in Lincoln They also do a Webber carb conversion kit for your motor but it is costly but if you can still get bit for the original then theres no need for it but its another option. Glad to help and look forward to hearing back. |

Well.......after all the exhaustive (exhausting?) searching, silly quotes, and kind help from folk such as yourself......I finally found my part today!
D & B Carburettor Specialists in Nottingham, near the football ground. Lovely chap called Tony found me a part from his vast collection! And, after being quoted £140 from a scrapyard website.....I was delighted to be given the part for free!!!! Hurrah! Thank you for all your help...and I hope to be back on the road soon. |
