Hello all, I wonder if you could help me. I've just removed
the standard (Type A) CD player from my Note. I'm going to
need some kind of harness adapter for my new stereo, but
I'm not sure which type I need to get. Halfords had
absolutely no idea when I asked in there today. I can post
a picture of the connectors from the Note and from the new
radio if that might help.
Thanks in advance!

Theres no off the shelf leads for the note i'm aware of 3 different plug types so far

your new aftermarket hu will be iso (apart from cheap rubbish of ebay)

nearest match is the micra K12 2003> later note sat nav units use the same plugs as the Qashqia

the autoleads cateloge shows you pics of the plugs if that helps

Thanks, I had a feeling it wouldn't be easy! I forgot to
mention my Note is a 08 plate, and my new stereo is a
Sony,
which appears to have just the two black blocks for
connecting.
Here is the layout from the inside of the car, I don't
know
if this might give a better idea of what I need!

Thanks again!

ah ok

that is an iso plug ! the 2 black blocks

Its a case of fitting the cage and pluging in the stereo, you may need an aerial adapter but i cant remember whats on the back of the sony hu

the red plug is for the audio controls

if the hu doesnt hold its memory its jus a case of swaping the red and yellows over on the sony loom

Ok that sounds more promising! So I don't need the pink
plug or the green and yellow ones? (I don't have controls
on the car anyway).
Never fitted a stereo before so bear with me!

Well, thanks for your advice, I now have the stereo
fitted, and amazingly working as well. It was a bit
tricky having to take out much of the centre dash, and a
bit of trial and error with the fitting, but all seems
good now and the new radio looks so much better (and
sounds it!).
Also seems to have held the memory, although if it
doesn't it's not the end of the world as I rarely listen
to the radio, usually CDs.
The stereo came with an aerial adapter which fitted
straight on to the car's aerial cable and the reception
is perfect.
Those ISO connectors are a lot better than the old way of
wiring that's for sure!
Thanks again.

I recently decided to replace the original double DIN single CD/radio that was fitted in my 2008 1.4 Note. I managed to get a Pioneer AVIC F900-BT at a good price on ebay. This features IGO satnav, DVD, MP3, DIVX, iPod interface etc. http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/archive/AVIC-F900BT/ind ex.html

I was expecting ISO connections (as shown in RetroDan's photo) having had a look at a few guides to Nissan head unit replacements on the web but found a few odd looking connectors and purchasing an ESM didn't help as the drawings didn't match what was left hanging out of the dashboard.  Took a bit of digging but was able to find adaptors that give almost full functionality. Now looking at the ASWC to give full functionality.  http://www.axxessinterface.com/steering_wheel_control_new.as px

Link to photos and descriptions/part numbers below - hopefully of some use to others.

autoleads pc99-x70 works with the note (non oem satnav)

I now know of 4 plug types, the esm/fsm is prob a 2006/07 one and i have been hunting for an update on and off for a year or more, the qashqai and micra k12 are good esm/fsm's to cross ref with the note

I have pics of the new connect setup in the note with pics of the plugs what i will post and sticky one day

The 900bt is a nice unit early ones use to suffer with turn on dealays but this was sorted with a firmware update

enjoy your new toy
