CD player / Radio (2005 Almera)

   I had a problem with car CD player not accepting/rejecting CDs. Two days on and a lot of head scratching later, I discovered that one of the mounts on the plastic cage that holds the ejector gear train was cracked, and this allowed the gear train to rise up and slip, when loading/ejecting a CD. I made up a small bracket on my lathe, which held the cage in place, and that solved the problem. As this looks like a weakness, I would think this could be a fairly common problem with this unit. 

A second problem was poor reception on the radio. It seems the antenna on the radio needs a good earth, since when I sorted out the earthing of the radio/CD chassis the reception came back.
