I have been struggling to enter various POIs data (taken from accurate sources) into my Note Connect sat-nav but continually find the resulting directions are 8-10 mls out.

If I enter the lat & long for my home taken from both the cars own sat-nav data & Google Earth I appear to live 10mls away.

I am using 8 digit data with a - symbol prefixing Westerly data & simply the digits for E & N as per the handbook.

My local dealer is of no help, has anyone encountered this & resolved it. I specifically need to work of lat & longtitude data not post-codes or search options (which have already failed to find the req'd locations)

bit of an unusual problem. i have installed poi and poi warnings on the connect no problems

the only time the connect has been wrong is with a postcode but it was in the middle of nowhere near lutterworth and that was 3 miles out

Hi Flash22, glad someone has cracked it. Any chance you can put up a few examples of how you'r entering the data so I can compare with my method. I must admit to being confused having to enter longtitude before latitude whereas convention always has it in the reverse order ... such is technology.

there standard tom tom ones converted to csv iirc

this is what i used when i did mine (well somethin like it)

How to add custom POIs (including speedcam data) to the Connect system

1. Create or download a Garmin .CSV format file of the POIs or speedcam database of your choice.
If it is in another format (Google's KML format for instance), use a conversion program to get the right format. http://www.poiedit.com/downloads.htm - PoiEdit 2007 is one example of such a program.

The Garmin CSV format uses Longitude, Latitude, "Name/ID" and will look like this:

-81.12345,45.98765,"Police Station@35"
-81.12332,45.98622,"Middle School@20"
-81.12131,45.91422,"Pay Phone"

2. Use a USB stick and create the following directories on it:

<USB drive letter>:\myPOIs for custom POIs.
<USB drive letter>:\myPOIs\myPOIWarnings for speedcam data or data you want to see/hear a warning for. The warning sound volume is quite low, I am told.

3. Copy the .CSV file into the directory of your choice.

4. Plug the USB stick into the USB port of your Connect system. A window will pop up on screen saying there are new POIs available.

5. select the 'Download' option on the touch screen. After a few seconds the instalaltion is complete.

6. Additional tip I have read somewhere else: You may want to modify the warning distance from the default 250 yards by changing the setting in the setup menu.

Flash22  Have compared format of the data in your example which is identical to how I've written my spreadsheet. I have even written the destination twice, once enclosed in { } & once outside as per handbook all to no avail.

The location data for my travels is not availble as a Garmin download so I'm forced to actually enter data from Google Earth search results & pilots airfield handbooks.

Back to the drawing board
