hi, has anyone fitted any aftermarket alloys to their note?

if so, what size and tyre combination are they?

pictures would be excellent too

reason im asking as it appears to be cheaper to buy a set of 4 wheels and tyres than replace 4 standard tyres.

hi paulyt,

when you say the new alloys with tires are cheaper, remember usually the tires fitted to them are cheap tires, they may not last you very long, you might be cheaper long run just buying a set of quality tires.

obviously you should keep tire width and profile the same as origonal, you maybe able to go a bit wider but i dont know how much as you might get wheel rub on the inside.

tires for the note are no more then £60 a corner set of alloys with decent tryes will set you back £500 atleast cheap alloys come with cheap budget tyres

imho budget tires are a false economy as the usually soft compound and wear quickly also thay and to effect braking esp in the wet

i had budgets on a few cars but realy noticed it when going for better tires, i had 16" rims on my corsa with yoko's set of 4 cost me £160 all in - thanks to my uncle who knows a tire shop owner

well, i have priced the tyres (185/55x16) and they are in the region of £90 or so each with decent branded ones at £120 each, budget ones are about £75 or so.

the continental ones i have one dont seem to be anything exceptional wear wise and budget tyres that come with alloys are only £40 or so to replace and much more readily available off the shelf locally too.

i think the days of my £40 branded tyres are long gone with this car sadly.

i will more than likely end up with the cheapest ones i can find, after all its only a cheap car and not a sports hatch, i'll make do as i doubt i will be keeping it all that long.

Hello from Athens!

You can use 195/60/15 and you ll only have 1.056% dif. from the

original size.

They are cheaper also!

I'm quite satisfied with Michelin Pilot exalto...

195/55/16 will put the speedo out 1.8% or 1.1 mph low at 60mph

Budget tires should be around £40 mid range ie falken's at around £60

205/55/16 will put the speedo out by 0.8%

prices are the same as the 195's

thanks for that info.. just to clarify, when you say the speedo will be low, do you mean that at an indicated 60 it would be doing 59 , or 61? (roughly)

have just done a quick online price comparison, slightly wider ones are much cheaper, so would presume a good deal could be had locally.

apart from the speedo reading, would there be anything else to look out for having wider tyres handling wise? excluding snowy weather.

the other tires will make the speedo read higher so when your doing indicated 60 you be doing 61-61.5

its all todo with the rolling radius

wider tire will give you a bit better traction need to watch the tire pressures tho
