im rob from Northern Ireland and currentky own a nissan primera that im deciding to scrap or fix, 2004 2.2dci 44,000 miles and the turbo has went on her again the turbo needed replaced at 15,000 really debatingif i shoukd fork out or get rid, What do you reckon guys/gals ?

There has to be something else to this if it keep eating it's turbo, might be worth asking your local dealer if there was any recalls for such a problem or anything that could cause it keep blowing.

 

As Fenwick has said, a recon unit is cheaper than a complete new unit and sometimes a recon unit can be built with better quality parts than a new one.

 

Also if your doing the change yourself I would check all the oil feed and return pipes and this is the main cause of turbo failure. If your not doing the change yourself then your selected garage should check and flush the oil feed and return system as part of the job.

 

As I've always been taught, in most cases repair is always going to be cheaper than scrapping and buying another.
